How do I care for my holster?
We do not recommend using any type of chemicals, oils or conditioners. These may soften the leather and cause the holster to lose its molded shape and retention. Our holsters have an acrylic finish applied which helps give them a shine and seals the leather. The holster should be fine for a long time and should not need anything other than an occasional wipe down with a soft cloth.
You never want to let your holster get wet. But if the holster does become wet (we had a customer fall into the lake while wearing a holster.) let your holster dry naturally. Do not use any type of heat (blow dryer, oven etc.). You would want to remove your handgun while trying not to change the shape of the holster and allow it to fully dry. This could take a couple of days or more. When the holster is completely dry you would want to check fit with your unloaded handgun to make sure it still fits properly.
We do not recommend wearing your holster empty (without the handgun) for any length of time. Do not allow the holster to become crushed or collapsed as this will cause it to loose its shape and would affect retention ruining the holster.
The only product we recommend using on our leather gear is Renaissance Wax. I've tested this on some of our personal gear and if you want to shine your holster up a little bit this product works well. It does not change the color or harm the leather. It actually adds an additional coat of protection. The only exception to this is the Suede Pocket Holster. While the inside of the suede holster is treated with an acrylic finish we leave the suede as is. We do not recommend putting anything on the suede. You can use a soft bristle brush to brush the suede and spruce it up a bit but as it is used over time the suede will wear some.
